We’ve got no end of pages telling you about how social Homerton is, or what’s going on, or about how nice a college it is. But a picture paints a thousand words, so we’ve got a bunch of galleries here of various events that have gone on. We’ve also got a nice gallery of Homerton looking pretty!
We’re looking to bump this up significantly in the short term, so keep your eyes on the website.
In Lent Term 2013, the MCR started holding Zumba classes on-site. This is a great way for people who are wanting to keep active to do so without getting involved in a particular sport or feeling under pressure. It’s just fun – there’s no need to feel like you need to impress everyone with your awesomeness. No one judges you, and in any case, everyone’s too busy keeping up with the instructor to watch what anyone else is doing!
In 2012, the MCR held a Thanksgiving Pot Luck. A Pot Luck is when all the invited people are asked as a condition of their attendance to bring an item of food or drink along. Our MCR President cooked the turkey, which was then supplemented by a whole range of sweet and savoury dishes as well as plenty of drink!
The first Homerton MCR Conference was held in June 2010. Four higher degree speakers as well as two members of Homerton’s academic staff candidly talked about everything from their work to their social life and all that is in between. The speakers were from varied departments such as the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics, the School of Clinical Medicine, the Faculty of Education, and the Faculty of Politics, Psychology, Sociology and International Studies.
In 2010, to celebrate the Royal Charter (which officially made Homerton a full college of Cambridge University), we were visited by the then Chancellor Prince Philip.
