LGBT+ stands for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender students. The + is a way of not excluding other sexual orientations or gender identities but stops the abbreviation becoming too long! Cambridge has an active and flourishing LGBT+ community and there are many resources for LGBT students available.
Homerton’s LGBT+ reps hold numerous special events, such as their periodic tea and cake gatherings in the MCR Common Room (contact the LGBT+ Reps for more information). They are also always available to listen and offer any counsel as needed.
If you are interested in venturing outside of Homerton, there is also an active CUSU LGBT Society. They provide a whole host of services including providing LGBT+ students at Cambridge with a vibrant and exciting social calendar. They also provide welfare support for students and represent LGBT+ interests on CUSU Council and through a number of autonomous campaigns.
